Well, Mitchell, my youngest, called this morning and he has received orders to go to South Korea. He doesn't leave until November so he will get to come home before the move and we may even be able to work in a trip to Florida.....I don't know that I will be able to go see my baby in Korea! He will be stationed at Osan Air Force Base. (Not sure if I spelled it correctly, I haven't done my research yet.) Anyway say a prayer for my baby and also the leaders of North Korea...they need to quit playing with nuclear weapons, especially with my baby moving so close! Later,

You can easily create wired ribbon from the fabric of your choice on your serger. This is a technique that is covered in my book 'Ready, Set, Serge' but I will give you a quick lesson here. If you have a presser foot that has a wire guide, you will use that foot. (In the picture I used a red wire in the foot in hopes that you would better be able to see where the guide holes are located on the foot.) I do not have a foot with a wire guide for my old White serger but the wire guide is in the 'elastic foot' for my Baby Lock serger. So the first step is to find out if you have a wire guide foot. Next, you will set your serger for a rolled hem, thread the wire through the wire guide and stitch over the wire. Easy ... >> full...

When using a presser foot that has a wire guide (holes for the wire to fit through), I find it easier to put the wire in the foot before I attach the foot to the serger. You will need to set the serger for a rolled hem. The guides in the foot should guide the wire to the right of the needle allowing the rolled edge to be created over the wire. Use a decorative thread in the upper looper to ensure that the stitches completely cover the wire. Have fun!

If you don't have a presser foot that has a wire guide, you can do the same technique without a presser foot! Yes, without a presser foot. Make sure that you lower the presser foot lever and turn off the cutting blade. Guide the wire to the right of the needle as you create a rolled hem over the wire.
