Crazy Quilt Stocking

 

Materials Needed

Assorted fabric scraps

 

 

¼ yard base fabric

 

 

½ yard lining fabric

 

 

¼ yard stocking band & loop

 

 

 

 

 

Directions

*Cut out all pieces except stocking front.

 

*Mark outline of stocking front on base fabric.  You  will cut out the stocking front after patched piece is completed with embellishment.

 

*Lay out fabric scraps on base fabric.  Move around until a you like the layout of you fabric choices.

 

*Top stitch fabric scraps in place, trimming excess fabrics as pieces are stitched down.

 

*Embellish all seams with trim and/or decorative stitches.  Any buttons, charms or embroidery would also be added at this time.

 

*Cut stocking front out of embellished piece. 

 

*Stitch stocking front and back together (right sides together), turn right side out and press.

 

*Stitch lining front and back together (right sides together), leave open between dots.  Do not turn.

 

*Stitch short ends of band together, (right sides together). Press seam. 

 

*Fold band in half (wrong sides together) matching  notches.

 

*Baste band to top of stocking (right sides together) matching notches.

 

*Fold loop along fold line (right sides together) and  stitch along seam line.

 

*Turn loop right side out.

 

*Baste loop in place as indicated on pattern, matching both ends of loop to placement mark (side seam).

 

*Stitch lining to top of stocking and band matching  notches (right sides together).

*Turn lining right side out.

 

*Top stitch opening closed.

 

*Turn lining into stocking and press.

 

*Fold band away from stocking and top stitch below band / stocking seam.
